Meet Kit Green.

Writer of illustrated tall tales about misfits, mischief, and accidental American history.

Loomis helps Flark up off the ground at Fort New York.
Kit mostly writes about people helping each other up.

The (mostly) true story

Character-driven satirical historical fiction. Now there's a mouthful.

Kit specializes in character-driven satirical historical fiction. His ability to blend humor with history and narrative depth is part of what makes his writing unique.

He believes a great novel should make you laugh on the same page it makes you ache, and that the right illustration on the right page can do things prose alone can't pull off. The result: full-length illustrated novels for grown-up readers who never stopped looking at the pictures.

When he's not writing silly stories

Kit can usually be found doing one of three things.

Swimming with ghosts

The Detroit River keeps a lot of secrets. Kit just goes in and asks them politely.

Tinkering on his time machine

It's the kind of project that's "almost finished" the way most basement projects are almost finished. Kit's not in any hurry.

Trying to get his cats to listen to him

Mimi and Luna have a long-standing policy of acknowledging Kit only at meal times. He has accepted this.

Kit lives on the South Shore of the Detroit River with his partner Dana and their two crazy cats, Mimi and Luna.
